Massachusetts Historical Society
This year’s annual meeting will include a discussion of the events leading up to, during, and after the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. (During July 2026, Americans across this country will hold commemorative events to celebrate the 250th anniversary of that iconic signing by our Founders.)
There are many “Moments that Changed the World.” As our guest speaker, Jonathan Lane, has noted, “Between 1765 and 1776, the people of Massachusetts led the other colonies into a Revolution which changed the world… . The 250th anniversary is an appropriate time for us to tell the story anew, and to find new stories and new historians to share it.”
